FOUNDER'S

On October 26, 1972, the Student Body
celebrated the forty -seventh anniversary
of the founding of Mount St. Mary's
College.

Our commemoration began at eleven
a.m. with a procession of students,
faculty, and Religious passing through
an honor guard of Pi Theta Mu girls. We
entered the chapel followed by our
celebrant Bishop William Johnson. The
Mass intentions were for the continua-
tion of the school and for the welfare of
the faculty, alumnae, and students. Mass
ended with the singing of the Halleluiah
Chorus from the Messiah by the Mount
Singers.

A box lunch picnic in the circle followed
Mass. Strolling minstrels, led by
Charlene Ryan with her accordian,
provided the entertainment.

The events of the day made each of us
pause to be thankful for the Mount.

76

The Fleur de Lis Ball was held in the
Apollo Room of the Odyssey Res-
taurant on November 3, 1972. The
Vince McGraw Ensemble provided the
music. The highlight of the evening
was the announcement of the engage-
ment of Carolyn Bennett and Tim
Gallant. A good time was had by all.

17

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

On Friday December 1, 1972, at 8 p.m., the
Christmas Choral Concert was held at the House
of Studies Chapel. Paul Salamunovich conducted the
Mount Singers, Mount Chorus, Loyola Men's
Chorus, and the Mount Community Orchestra. The
first part of the program consisted of a combination
of Fifteenth Century and contemporary carols. The
second part of the program was the Christmas
portion of the Messiah. Solo work was performed
by Patricia Forrest, soprano, Jean Morris,
contralto, Mark Aldrich, tenor, and Gordon
Goodman, bass. A reception in the Campus Center
followed the Concert.
